Eddie Codel _ View my site I've known Todd through Survival Research Labs, since 1999. Traumatic brain injuries are probably the worst kind of injury a human being could suffer, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. If you’d like to help me support Todd, that would be super awesome.

Anu Vikram and Stephan Vladimir Bugaj _ View our site Todd was Anu's co-Associate Producer on ZeroOne 2006, and over the five months they worked together and the two years since they have developed a close friendship and a strong professional relationship. Stephan has known Todd through SRL for quite a while. Todd is a great guy, and a good friend, and we are doing everything we can to help his doctors and Alex nurse him back to health. . Alex has been tireless in her efforts to bring about his recovery, staying by his side constantly and working closely with his doctors and physical therapists to develop and implement challenging treatments over the last six months. . We believe in Todd's ability to make a full recovery, but right now he is a long, long way from that. Todd and Alex need financial support to make it through to that day, which may be a year or more away. It's a tough row to hoe and they need ongoing support.

Schultz and Carol _ View our site It's a rusty old gear. May have come off a farm in Kansas or Nebraska. Got a do-hickey on it that moves, sometimes. It's a lot like Todd. It has sure takin' a lickin', but keeps on tickin'. And it goes round and round. The teeth on it remind us folks of how we are all connected to him. One small move by one tooth and they all move. Like the joy we feel as he heals.

Shannon O'Hare _ View my site Shannon's gear is called the Todd Blair Nickelodeon. Inspired by Victorian science fiction, this gear, built by the Neverwas Haul crew, will be a nickelodeon animated device powered by the kinetic movement of the other gears on the Wall. An animation showing the gears inside a cartoon head (that looks surprisingly a lot like Todd Blair) will be happily churning away as the gear moves. Our design was inspired by Todd's resilient efforts to regain his brain function and serve as an image of how all the other gears are necessary to help move him forward in his recovery. . The materials will be brass, copper, bronze, antique castings, and, of course, the aluminum gear base. All the materials were repurposed stock from the Neverwas supply of eclectic devices.

Liisa Pine Todd has always been one of the top creative and most reasonable voices in the circles where I have been lucky enough to work with him. The irony that he, of all people, would sustain such an injury has caused us all to pause and reconsider the placement and purpose of our efforts. He and Alex continue to model faith, strength, and perseverance to a degree we can only strive to emulate. With neither of them working during this critical first (and likely second) year of recovery, the bills will be staggering. Alex is pursuing every resource available, but cash is still in great demand for living expenses, the durable medical equipment and the nursing care not covered by insurance. Regardless of your perspective, I hope that you will contribute and become part of this beautiful pattern of recovery and independence.
John Rogers_ note: this lovable luddite has no website (doh!) As well as being a wonderful friend and a co-conspirator on many past projects, Todd is my collaborator on a public art project in Oakland. I have been privleged to be a part of his recovery these last several months, and the iron in my gear, the outward spiral, and the forged horse head are all metaphors for the powerful will that Todd has implemented in that struggle. This work of my hands is a solidification of the love I feel for this kind, intelligent, humorous man.

Darwin Stephenson _ View my site I don't know Todd nor have I any relationship to the organization he works with. I discovered his situation upon viewing a Laughing Squid Tweet and committed myself to the cause after hearing his story. . So let me know your ideas for the gear! What do you think I should to to it? I know that I'll be grinding/polishing off the black paint and can make it 3-dimensional by inserting threaded rod into the pre-drilled and pre-threaded holes in the gear. But what I weld onto those rods is still up in the air. . Ideas?

Laurel True _ View my site I've been exploring the use of asphalt as a mosaic medium in my artwork lately, and plan to incorporate this in my set of twin gears for Todd and Alex's Gear Wall. I will also use mirror and glass as symbols of love, reflection and the inner beauty that describes both of these incredible people.
